Yarn Lanterns: DIY Wedding Decorations

For this project, we’ll make Yarn Lanterns! Materials:

  • Heavy duty balloons
  • Petroleum jelly
  • Cotton yarn
  • Mod Podge
  • Spray shellac

Step 3: Dip yarn into tray of mod podge/white glue and wrap around balloon. Andre Johnson Successful Hacks:

  • Take a Starbucks iced coffee cup, fill with glue, punch hole in bottom, fill cup with glue, feed yarn through lid and out through bottom of cup to allow yarn to soak evenly instead of manually soaking in tray.

Failed Hacks:

  • Polyester yarn (cheaper than cotton) – did not absorb glue
